Bristol Hospital Unveils Renderings Of Its New Ambulatory Care Center

May 25, 2017

Bristol Hospital and Health Care Group unveiled the renderings of its new Ambulatory Care Center, which will be constructed as part of the downtown Centre Square project in Bristol.
The 60,000-square-foot, three-story building, will house numerous sub-specialties of the Bristol Hospital Multi-Specialty Group as well as dedicated space for laboratory, and physical and occupational therapy services. The drawings of the building’s two main entrances were unveiled at a news conference on Thursday.

“This new Ambulatory Care Center reinforces Bristol Hospital’s commitment to the community,” said Kurt A. Barwis, FACHE, president and CEO of Bristol Hospital and Health Care Group. “This beautiful new facility will enhance the brand of the Bristol Hospital Multi-Specialty Group and provide improved community access to our services. This project was the vision of our Board of Directors who early on, saw this as a win-win for Bristol Hospital, downtown Bristol and all the residents within our service area.”

The list of specialty practices scheduled to move into the Ambulatory Care Center include:

  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology/Diabetes
  • Neurology
  • Orthopedics
  • Rheumatology
  • Urology

Last month, the hospital and the City of Bristol signed a purchase and sale agreement for a parcel of the Centre Square lot. The project includes available land for possible future expansion of the Ambulatory Care structure.

"Bristol Hospital continues to step up to the plate in its commitments to the City of Bristol. The structure that is now turning from the planning stage to the development stage is an exciting time for the hospital and the City,” said Bristol Mayor Ken Cockayne. “In the end, the real winner will be the citizens of Bristol who will have a top-notch facility that will continue to be an integral part of the community. This is just the first step as our administration continues to develop downtown for a better future.”

The Ambulatory Care Center has two main entrances; one that faces the south for walk-up traffic, and a second main entrance on the back side of the building that faces north and a larger parking area. The structure will be built into the existing grade of the site and includes ample natural light. The ground floor of the center also will include a cafe for visitors and employees.

Bristol Hospital has partnered with Florida-based Rendina Healthcare Real Estate as the developer of the Ambulatory Care Center. A nationally-recognized leader in medical office development for 30 years, Rendina has developed more than 7.5 million square feet of building space throughout the country.

“We’re thrilled to be part of a project that will improve access to high quality healthcare for the residents of Bristol while also revitalizing downtown,” said Brian C. Cich, chief operating officer of Rendina Healthcare Real Estate. “”Bristol Hospital has a tremendous vision for changing the way health care is being delivered and we’re proud to be their partner in making that vision a reality.”

Cich added that pending numerous city approvals, ground should be broken on the site later this fall. The estimated completion date of the Ambulatory Care Center is early 2019.
